Punjab has made history with the launch of the ‘Dhee Rani Program,’ a thoughtful initiative designed to support families with limited resources in celebrating their children’s weddings. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz officially inaugurated the program on Saturday with a memorable event, where 51 couples, including five Christian pairs, tied the knot in a grand mass wedding ceremony.
The program aims to ease the financial burden of marriage for underprivileged families while promoting social inclusion. Speaking at the event, Maryam Nawaz congratulated the newlyweds and their families, offering heartfelt prayers for their happiness and success. She shared her emotional connection to the occasion, describing it as a moment of pride and joy not only for the couples and their families but also for herself.
During her speech, Maryam Nawaz expressed her sentiments by saying, “This moment is filled with happiness for the children and their parents. As they celebrate today, I feel the joy of a mother sharing this milestone.” She personally met each couple, offered congratulatory cards, and wished them a prosperous married life. She also prayed for their future, saying, “May Allah bless you with happiness and replace any challenges in your past with everlasting peace.”
Under this initiative, each couple received essential household items, including mattresses, dinnerware, cooking sets, and other daily necessities to help them start their new lives. In addition to these gifts, the couples were presented with a special ‘Dhee Rani Greeting Card’ and a monetary contribution of Rs100,000, ensuring they have a solid foundation as they begin their journey together.
Maryam Nawaz also took the time to inspect the gifts and personally engage with the newlyweds, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere. A group photo with the couples added a memorable touch to the ceremony, followed by a complimentary lunch organized by the Social Welfare Department for all attendees.
The ‘Dhee Rani Program’ is a significant step towards building a compassionate society in Punjab. By reducing the financial stress associated with marriage, this program helps families focus on celebrating love and unity. Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering a sense of community and care, showing that the government stands with its people in their significant life events.
The inaugural ceremony of the program, held at a premier venue in Lahore, marked a new chapter in Punjab’s social welfare efforts. It was not just a celebration of 51 weddings but a powerful statement of unity, compassion, and support for underprivileged families. The program serves as a shining example of how community-focused initiatives can bring joy and hope to those in need.
With the successful launch of the ‘Dhee Rani Program,’ Punjab has set a benchmark for social welfare, proving that even small steps can create a big impact in the lives of people.
