Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is taking significant steps to improve its services and expand its reach, both domestically and internationally. The national carrier has announced the launch of new flight routes starting in January 2025, alongside efforts to bring more aircraft back into operation. These changes aim to provide better travel options for passengers while enhancing the airline’s overall performance.
From January 20, 2025, PIA will introduce two weekly flights between Sialkot and Bahrain. Shortly after, on January 22, two weekly flights will commence between Lahore and Dammam. Travelers from Lahore can also look forward to weekly flights to Kuwait starting January 25. Additionally, the airline will operate weekly flights connecting Faisalabad to Jeddah from January 20 and Sialkot to Doha starting January 21. Domestic travelers will benefit from a new weekly service between Peshawar and Karachi, launching on January 25.
To accommodate these new routes, PIA will be using its Boeing 777 and Airbus 320 aircraft, ensuring passengers experience a comfortable and reliable journey. These expansions are part of PIA’s broader strategy to revive its operations and offer more connectivity to key destinations.
PIA’s acting CEO, Khurram Mushtaq, shared ambitious plans to reactivate the airline’s grounded aircraft. Of the 34 aircraft in PIA’s fleet, only 16 were operational until recently. However, the dedicated efforts of the PIA team have already reintroduced three additional aircraft, bringing the total operational fleet to 19. These include a Boeing 777, an Airbus 320, and an ATR aircraft. The airline plans to increase this number to 24 operational planes within the next six months, with the ultimate goal of activating all 34 aircraft by the end of 2025.
The CEO also highlighted plans to deploy Boeing 777 aircraft for operations in European countries, reflecting the airline’s commitment to expanding its international services. These efforts are expected to significantly boost PIA’s revenue and customer satisfaction.
In another major announcement, PIA has approved a 25% salary increase for its employees. This move demonstrates the airline’s commitment to supporting its workforce as it works to improve operations.
Last year, PIA expanded its fleet by adding two more aircraft, a step that helped pave the way for the current improvements. The airline’s management is optimistic that these changes will lead to a brighter future for PIA, benefiting both passengers and employees.
These developments mark a new chapter for PIA, with enhanced services, more flight options, and a stronger operational fleet. Whether traveling domestically or internationally, passengers can look forward to a more efficient and enjoyable flying experience with Pakistan International Airlines.
