As the winter holidays in Islamabad come to an end, students and parents eagerly prepare for the return of physical classes. However, rumors about a possible extension of holidays due to the biting cold weather have been spreading across social media, causing confusion and concern.
Posts on platforms like WhatsApp have suggested that schools in Islamabad might remain closed for a longer period due to the ongoing cold wave. These unverified claims have sparked widespread discussions, with many parents and students hoping for an extended break to avoid braving the chilly weather.
Despite these rumors, the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has officially confirmed that private schools in Islamabad will reopen as scheduled on Monday, January 6, 2025. Similarly, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced that FDE-run schools will resume classes on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Both authorities have urged parents and students to trust official announcements and avoid falling for misinformation circulating online.
While Islamabad schools stick to their original plans, the situation is different in other regions of Pakistan. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), winter holidays have been extended, and schools will reopen on February 6, 2025. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, classes will resume on January 7, 2025, while schools in Punjab will reopen after an extended break on January 13, 2025.
The cold wave gripping the country has led to varying decisions across regions, but parents in Islamabad can rest assured that the scheduled reopening dates remain unchanged. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and encourage everyone to rely on credible sources for updates.
As students gear up for their return to classrooms, families are reminded to take precautions against the cold weather and ensure children dress warmly to stay safe and comfortable during the winter season.
