As the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy approaches, the famous Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is quickly getting ready to welcome the world’s top cricket teams. The tournament, set to run from February 19 to March 9, 2025, will bring exciting matches to Pakistan, and the stadium is going through major upgrades to make sure everything is perfect for this grand event.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been working hard to make Gaddafi Stadium ready. According to Qazi Jawad Ahmed, the Director of Infrastructure at PCB, the renovations are moving along smoothly and are on track. Right now, the final touches are being added to the first floor of the office building, while work continues on the other floors of the stadium’s pavilions.
One of the key upgrades is to the Far End Building. Although this part of the stadium is not being torn down, it is being updated to fit the new design of the rest of the venue. This area is expected to be finished in just two weeks, adding to the excitement as the tournament draws near.
Another major improvement is the stadium’s floodlights. These lights are being upgraded to make sure the night matches are just as exciting as those played in the day. One of the new screen stands has already been installed, and the second one is almost ready. This will ensure the stadium looks amazing and is well-lit for the spectators and players.
The seating in the stadium is also getting a makeover. New, imported white and green chairs are being put in, giving the stadium a fresh look that represents Pakistan’s national colours. These new seats will help provide a comfortable experience for the fans who will cheer on their teams during the tournament.
The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy is expected to be one of the biggest cricket events in the world. It will feature eight top teams, competing in 15 thrilling matches across three cities in Pakistan. While the final is scheduled to be held in Lahore, if India qualifies, the match will be moved to Dubai.
The tournament will kick off on February 19, with Pakistan facing New Zealand in the opening match in Karachi. Fans are especially excited about the match between Pakistan and India, which will take place on February 23 in Dubai. The clash between these two cricket giants is sure to be one of the highlights of the tournament.
