The Lahore High Court (LHC) has made an important decision to fight smog in Lahore. All schools in the city must re-register within a month. If schools do not follow the new rule requiring them to have school buses, their registration could be canceled.
This decision is part of efforts to deal with the increasing smog problem in the city. During the hearing, Justice Shahid Karim stressed that protecting the environment is urgent and cannot be delayed anymore. He praised the government’s work so far but said stricter actions are needed to make real progress.
The court asked the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to check the city’s roads and create a plan to fix traffic congestion, which adds to smog.
The Secretary of School Education, Khalid Nazir, explained new rules for private schools. According to these rules, schools must provide buses for students to get registered. This will help reduce cars on the road and cut down pollution.
Justice Karim called the school bus plan very important and said it must be fully in place before the next smog season. He also pointed out that traffic rules are not being enforced properly in busy areas like bus stations and housing societies on Multan Road. He ordered immediate action to fix this.
These steps are part of a larger plan to solve the smog problem. Making school transportation and traffic management better can help reduce pollution and improve air quality.
The High Court’s actions show a strong commitment to solving the smog crisis. By making schools and authorities follow these rules, the court aims to create a cleaner and safer environment for everyone. This effort could also inspire other cities to take similar steps to fight pollution.
